Turkish ruling AKP party district chairman distributes parcels prepared by relief agency for earthquake victims to his relatives
AKP Sur District Chairman Davut Yıldız and his relative Mehmet Yıldız, the Sur Municipality Director of Science, distributed the aid parcels prepared by the AFAD relief agency for the earthquake victims to their relatives
The aid parcels prepared by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) of the Ministry of Interior to be distributed in the provinces affected by the earthquake were taken and distributed by AKP members to relatives and constituencies two and a half months after the earthquake. AKP Sur District Chairman Davut Yıldız and his uncle’s son and Sur Municipality Director of Science Mehmet Yıldız reportedly distributed the aid parcels to close relatives in the villages of Diyarbakir’s central Sur district, such as those of the Özekli, Davudan, Yayık, Kesiktaş and Vural as the gift from the party AKP, not as a relief package from the Turkish state.
The ruling AKP party of the President Erdogan is falling behind in the polls as the elections approach on May 14th. In many other places, AKP has been hoarding the state relief packages, re-packaging them with the party logo and distributing them to make the victims think the aid is from the party to garner votes.
