Karınca Logistics workers who stopped work demanding union rights and higher wages won. A protocol will be prepared in line with the demands
Karınca Logistics workers in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, went on strike yesterday (February 7th) against the boss’s proposed low pay increase offer and an attempt to prevent unionization. In a social media post, the workers announced that no one would be fired and that an agreement would be made with the boss in line with their demands. The announcement said:
At 8:30 a.m. today, our committee held a meeting with the employer’s representatives. Our request for a protocol has been accepted. No one will be fired, there will be no pressure put on workers to quit the union. Upon acceptance of our requests within this framework, we have started to work. We are preparing the agreement together with our union Liman-İş. If the protocol is not accepted and the promises are not kept, we respectfully announce to the public that we will strike again.
