Unemployment is increasing every day. It seems there is no alternative left for the unemployed but to rebel. While organizing is needed against unemployment, more news on the protest of the unemployed workers is appearing every day.
Erdal Saçan, a 29 year old unemployed worker in the southern city of Mersin chained himself to the gate where the Governor’s official automobile enters the building.
Erdal Saçan said he wanted to meet with the Mersin Governor but the police told him the governor was not at the premise. Saçan said he was unemployed and nobody cared. He said, “Nobody gave a helping hand. I am locking for work, but I can not find one. I am sick. I wanted to meet with the Deputy Governor, but he was not interested. I will not leave unless I meet with the Governor. They lash out at us for wanting to see the Governor.”
Erdal Saçan, gave the key to lock on his chain after the police promised to let him see the Governor. But when the lock was opened, he was first taken to the hospital, then to the police station for interrogation. The police, in their statement, said, Saçan was married with two children.
He was not allowed to see the Governor.
