The Petroleum Workers union, Petrol İş, has filed for a request for an investigation and disciplinary action against the management of the Privatization Department, which refuses to accept the mandate of a higher court ruling earlier against the privatization of Tüpraş, a state run petroleum products institution.
The higher court had ruled that the privatization of the 51% of the state shares at Tüpraş was against the law. Until now, the management of the privatization department has refused to abide by the higher ruling and is preparing to go ahead with the privatization against the court ruling.
On March 7, Tuesday, The workers from Tüpraş refineries at Kocaeli, Kırıkkale, Aliağa, Batman and Körfez Petrochemical will march to the Department of Privatization and will demand the court order be immediately put into action. The entire officers from the headquarters and the branch managers of Petrol İş Union will be present at the Department of Privatization as well as the representatives of other labor union confederations, unions, political parties and NGO’s.
