Four workers were laid off from Altınel Melamin Sanayi plant for being members of the Liman-İş, the union of dockworkers.
The president of the union, Mr. Kılıç said in a written statement that the freedom of association was a given right for everybody in the Turkish Constitution. He said these rights and freedoms meant nothing when it came to real life in Turkey since the rulers have been violating the constitution and the laws continuously. He also added that the bosses used this opportunity to attack the labor without any consideration of legality or the law. He also detailed the process where the 4 workers were laid off from Altınel Melamin Sanayi for being union members.
In a mining accident in Merzifon, a central northern town, a worker lost his life. While doing underground coal transportation in the Yeni Çeltek Coal Mining plant Nurettin Güler (41), the conductor hit his head on the warehouse door and lost his life.
