Since HSBC, Fortis, CityBank, and BankEuropa started to penetrate the Turkish Finance sector, Turkish banks, unable to compete with them, are trying to find a way to establish a “partnership” with them.
To do this, AkBank chose UBS Limited as consultants to assess and establish connections on unequal development alternatives including procurement, partnership, and strategic cooperation.
Sabancı Corporation in its statement said, “Banking is, and will be, the primary business of Sabancı Corporation. We are very successful at banking. Since Akbank is the leader, it will assess all opportunities with a sense of leadership responsibility. They also added that in order to retain their leadership in the sector, they needed to find a partner.
Denizbank gave authorization to JP Morgan
Meanwhile, Denizbank, a subsidiary of Zorlu Holding, authorized JP Morgan for a partnership.
