Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Prime Minster of Turkey, was protested by the members of the progressive organization Peoples’ Houses during his speech in an opening ceremony.
During his talk, the protesters shouted, “Be decent! Apologize to the people! You do not have the right to insult your citizens! Freedom to the arrested protesters in Mersin!”
The protesters were referring to the last week’s incident when the PM had insulted a farmer who wanted to talk to him and complain about his policies. The PM, Erdoğan, had said, “get yourself and your mama out of here, buddy!” to the peaceful farmer. When the news of the PM’s insult was heard, protesters from the Peoples’ Houses had thrown eggs to the PM during a talk he was giving later that day in Mersin. The 5 Mersin protesters had been arrested and later detained. The two protesters in Ankara, Hasan Kurt and Dilşat Aktaş, was also arrested by the PM’s security.
