350 workers of the furniture manufacturing plant POLI decided to occupy the plant for two days after being denied their due wages for two months.
Workers reported that the owners agreed among themselves to pay a fraction of the due wages, but since it was right before the religious holiday (when workers need the money most) the workers demanded full payment.
A group of laborers started chanting, “We are workers, We demand our rights!” inside the plant and refused to leave while another group gathered outside in support. After 6 hours of protest, the owners gave in and the workers were able to secure only a months pay of past due wages.
After being promised that they would get the rest of their wages at the end of the holiday (next week) the workers ended their occupation.
