AKP’s Bağcılar Municipality in Istanbul bought 705,000 TL worth of cologne from an AKP member businessman Başgöze. It turned out that Başgöze had previously sold unique perfume sets to the Presidency.
According to the information obtained from the Public Procurement Bulletin, the AKP’s Bağcılar Municipality in Istanbul organized a tender named “Glass Bottle Lemon Cologne Purchase Transactions” on September 30, 2022.
According to İsmail Arı from BirGün Daily, a contract worth 705 thousand 600 TL was signed with Beb Cosmetics Company on October 5, 2022, for the tender organized under the open bargaining method. According to the records of the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette, Elif Başgöz, who serves as the head of the External Relations Unit of the AKP Istanbul Women’s Branch, is among the partners of the selling corporation. In addition, the AKP’s Sancaktepe Municipality received a shipment of cloth bags worth 290 thousand TL from Başgöze’s company on March 1, 2019. It was reported that the colognes distributed by former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım when he was a candidate for the presidency of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality were also produced by Beb Cosmetics Company. The lemon colognes that Yıldırım sent to the deputies in a bag with the logo of the Parliament as New Year’s gifts in 2020 were also purchased from Beb Cosmetics Company.
On the website of Beb Cosmetics, the corporation states that a set containing perfume, room fragrance, candles, and cologne was also prepared for the Presidential office. President Erdogan’s signature is on the bottles sold to government offices. The company has also sold perfumes and unique cologne sets to such government offices as HalkBank, the Postal Service, The Red Crescent, Üsküdar Municipality, and the Grand National Assembly.
