The progressive left opposition HDP party’s co-leader Pervin Buldan speaks at her caucus meeting. “Our goal is to reach at least 100 deputies in parliament.”
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-leader Pervin Buldan speaks at her caucus meeting. Buldan, in her “Presidency and the 28th term” speech, emphasized the importance of the parliamentary elections and said, “Our goal is to reach at least 100 deputies in the parliament. We definitely have the strength and the trust to achieve this.”
Highlights from Buldan’s speech are as follows:
“There are new ways, for sure”
“The tree with a deep root is never afraid of the winds. We will resist. We will exist. We have stated everywhere that we will never fall into despair and pessimism. We have shown that no matter what obstacles the dark structure against us erects, no force can stand in the way of the grand march of change initiated by the people. Now is the time to reality this truth to everyone before history.
“There are definitely new paths. We promised everyone that we would never leave the people of Turkey helpless and without options. We kept our promise, and we succeeded. We have created new roads and options with our alliances and people. The address of the new road we have created is the Green Left Party. Our path is the Green Left.”
HDP had become the key party in the upcoming May 14th elections. Although formed to represent the Kurdish minority of the country, HDP has grown and spread throughout the country and has support from most progressive, revolutionary, left, and environmental groups. It has become the de facto representative of minorities, women, the LGBTQ community, and socialists. HDP was forced to create and form alliances with other left parties under the name of the “Green Left” party because, just before the elections, the government is trying to close and eliminate it from participating.
“We come as the Green Left”
“We are coming with women on May 14 to send away the “One-Man” regime. Yesterday, we announced the election declaration of our alliance with the Kurdish parties in Diyarbakır. We once again gave our message of democratic unity to our peoples from Amed. We come from Newroz squares, March 8th and May 1st squares. We come from all over Turkey as the Green Left road.
“They will go in the spring”
“We are coming to build democracy together. But first, we come to save our peoples from this system of fascism that has descended like a nightmare over this country. We are coming together to save this country from the AKP-MHP regime partnership, which feeds on the politics of hatred rising from conflict, the exploitation of faith, corruption, and war. Together, we will save Turkey from the monstrosity of single-mindedness, the coup d’état of trustees (assigned by the government over elected officials – Translator’s note), and the grip of prohibitions. All our people should know that labor exploitation, poverty, hunger, and disaster are never the fate of this country. War policies are never the fate of this country. The single-minded order of male domination, which is the source of violence, murder, discrimination, and inequality against women, is not the fate of women. The deadly corrupt policies that turn natural disasters into the disasters of the century are not the fate of the people of our cities. None of our comrades deserve the crisis system of the AKP-MHP alliance. We said that another way is possible, and there is. We promised to remove the AKP-MHP political wreckage that has fallen on the country, we will not only remove it, but we will also definitely ask for the political account of all the disasters and crises they have inflicted on this country in the last 21 years. Everyone will see that the Green Left Party will change the history and fortunes of this country. The black winter that the AKP-MHP government has inflicted on the country will only live until the Green Left spring comes in the polls. They will go in the spring.
“From this podium, I once again appeal to all our citizens who say enough is enough for the AKP and MHP government; Let’s bury this order of threats and pressure, which shakes its finger at you, insults you, and ignores any of your demands, in the ballot boxes together so that we never return to it again.
“Our goal is to reach at least 100 deputies in parliament”
“Our goal is to reach at least 100 deputies in parliament. We have the strength and the faith to achieve this. Once again, I appeal to all those who want the power to change and demand a new life and future. Let’s all turn the Green Left into the new face of the Assembly. Believe me, anyone who turns to the Green Left will see the future they want to live in.”
