Mustafa Demir, the mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality from the AKP, filed a complaint through his lawyer against a person he claimed had insulted him on social media. The complainant turned out to be a 15-year-old boy, but Demir did not withdraw his complaint. 15-year-old H.S. then went to the Children’s Prosecutor’s Office and gave a statement.
H.S., an 11th-grade student at Necati Akçalılar Anatolian High School who lives in the Tekkeköy district of Samsun, criticized AKP Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir with a post on his social media account due to the expropriation, at a fraction of the market prices, of the houses and businesses he inherited from his grandfather.
According to Cumhuriyet’s Cemil Ciğerim, The police reached H.S.’s father and asked the boy to come to the courthouse for a statement. H.S. got permission from his school and went to testify.
H.S., released after the testimony, said, “My family is distraught that our house will be destroyed. With the money given by the municipality, our future will be darkened. Therefore, my family was very sad one day, and I commented on social media. Then I deleted my post. I took a leave of absence from my school and went to testify.”
