Mithat Sancar said, “Where is the money collected when the needs are increasing so much? The government must answer. Where is the 116 billion liras?”
HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar spoke at his party’s Parliamentary Group Meeting. Stating that the donations made after the two major earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş were not forwarded to the earthquake victims, Sancar said, “Where is the money collected while the needs are increasing so much? The government must answer. Where is the 116 billion liras?”
Regarding the elections on May 14, Sancar said, “We will march together; we will definitely change the power and order.”
The highlights of Sancar’s statement are as follows:
“Exploitation and plunder, rent and the order to go to wars are the cause of these destructions. We will change this order. We will definitely hold those responsible for this order accountable. We will demand what our rights are from this state and from the government. We will continue our struggle to use the available resources for the people, but we will also continue to weave citizen solidarity. Let’s open our houses to earthquake victims, let’s continue to be in solidarity with earthquake victims against the greedy people who turn buildings and homes into investment tools and rent areas.
The elections are two months away. On the day the election date was announced, we said we were ready. The HDP’s position, our principles, and our claim for a new future continue to be the fundamental reality of both Turkish society and politics today. Since the day it was founded, the HDP has existed through a democratic alliance and third-way politics. Our call for a democratic alliance has evolved into the Labor and Freedom Alliance due to the multi-component structure of our party, and this effort has received a great response.
We continue to make every effort to enter the May 14 elections with the broadest democratic alliance. We will not allow this government, which goes downhill like a truck with its brakes blown, to drag the country into the abyss along with itself. We also need to change the way things are to stop this collapse. We have come a long way in creating the strongest unity of democracy, the partnership of struggle, and we need to take it further.”
