It turned out that autopsies were performed on a very small number of people who lost their lives due to earthquakes, and that thousands of people were given just printed documents to bury their relatives.
According to T24’s Gökçer Tahincioğlu and Vecih Cuzdan, relatives of those who lost their lives in the cities destroyed in the Maraş-based earthquakes have filed or are preparing to file criminal complaints against AFAD, the official search and rescue organization, and related institutions due to the delay in search-and-rescue activities.
However, it turned out that the “inspection of death” minutes, which were supposed to be one of the most important pieces of evidence in this regard, were prepared only in print, not digital. It was understood that the relatives of those who lost their lives in the earthquake were given a printed form titled “inspection of death, identification, delivery, and burial report” and that only the name of the deceased was written on this document.
It was learned that autopsies were performed on very few of the more than 45 thousand people who lost their lives in the earthquake and that the printed document was issued for the remaining tens of thousands of people. For this reason, no detailed determination could be made about the people who died in the wreckage waiting for help for days, who died in the wreckage due to hypothermia or other reasons.
After the Maraş-based earthquakes, the most important controversy was the delay of the search-and-rescue teams. In some cities, even if the teams came to the wreckage, the work could not be done because there were no equipment. Thousands of people claimed that their relatives survived under the rubble for a long time but lost their lives due to the late search and rescue.

For this reason, criminal complaints have started to be filed against relevant institutions and organizations, especially AFAD, in many cities. Many people have also given instructions to lawyers to take legal action.
Printed Forms
One of the most important pieces of evidence in this regard was expected to be a detailed autopsy. Or the cause of death had to be revealed by a detailed examination of the dead. However, it was understood that only printed forms were given to those who lost their relatives in the earthquake. It turned out that very few people had been given autopsies and that thousands of people had been given this document to bury their relatives.
In the document in question, it is stated that the earthquake was centered in Maraş Pazarcık and that the death of the person occurred due to a general body and head trauma caused by being under the debris-collapse-rubble. In the printed form-document, the relevant sections for writing names are left blank. It was stated that after the name of the deceased was written here and the photograph was taken, the document was given to the relatives of the deceased. It was understood that the relatives of the deceased were also able to bury with this document.
