TMMOB, the highest body regulating the work and employment of Engineers and Architects in Turkey, staged a rally on the Day to Fight Against Occupational Hazards
The day was established after the largest mine disaster of 1992 on March 3rd.
The engineers and architects read a statement that reminded that more than 2,170 workers lost their lives at work in 2021.

The statement emphasized that employers and the state do not fulfill their primary responsibilities, and instead, all workloads and responsibilities are placed on the shoulders of occupational safety experts. TMMOB said that another reason for the large number of occupational accidents is the suppression of workers’ union rights and that opening the way for union organization is of great importance for worker health and safety, adding that the arrangements to be made in this regard should be made not only by the Ministry of Family, Labor Social Services but also by an independent institute created by TTB, the Association of Physicians, and the TMMOB.
