We are here today with humane demand for life and wages against the cost of living and inflation. Unfortunately, most of our teacher friends are not with us today because they were forced to work even though it was the weekend. We no longer want to start the next day without resting; we want our professional honor. As teachers and educators of private educational institutions, we do not want to pay with our lives, but we want what is rightfully ours. When we close the classroom door, we want to think only about our students, not the rent, the bills, the kitchen costs.
Private school teachers took to the streets against the cost of living and inflation in Istanbul and Ankara, demanding decent and humane living and wages.
Teachers of private education institutions held a rally in Ankara and Istanbul demanding humane living and wages against the cost of living and inflation by saying, “We can’t get along.”
Two banners reading “We can’t get along” and “We want a base salary” were unfurled during the teachers’ protests on Bankalar Street in Kartal, Istanbul.
The press conference in Ankara was held in front of the Ulus Statue.
Volkan Daghli, vice president of the Association of Private Sector Teachers Association in Ankara, and Seden Cengiz, a member of the Union Union in Istanbul, said in a press release:

We appeal to our parents; we look forward to your support in our rightful struggle. Question the teacher’s working conditions so your children can get a good education!
With the change in the law in 2014; To this day, our salary equivalence with teachers in public schools, i.e., equal pay for equal work, has been taken away from us. So for the last seven years, our salaries have been left to the conscience of the bosses. As a result, today, we, unfortunately, see teachers employed on salaries below the poverty line. Our salary equivalence should not be left to the conscience of the individuals, it should be guaranteed by strictly regulated laws and regulations, and the mandatory base wage application should be brought back immediately!
Last week, teachers at several chain schools tried to make their voices heard through petitions. They shared the working conditions that have become unbearable with the public. We salute them all from here. We reiterate our humane demand for wages here and declare that we will continue our struggle even more decisively as institutions representing the teachers. A better education system cannot be built by ignoring teachers’ problems!
As the cost of the economic crisis becomes more and more severe, we appeal to all teachers working in the private sector;
We call on you to come together against bosses who view education only as a commercial profit tool, to stand together, to act together to get what is rightfully ours!
