Hundreds of people protested against energy hikes in front of Aydem, an electricity distribution company, in Didim district of Aydin
Organized by the Didim Democracy Platform, a rally took place demanding the reversal of recent price increases, especially the increases in electricity and natural gas. Didim residents gathered in front of İş Bank and marched to Aydem, an electricity-power distribution company. CHP Aydin MP Huseyin Yildiz participated in the action.
A press release prepared on behalf of the platform was read at the rally in front of the Aydem offices. The statement stressed that the paycheck increases to workers and pensioners were already gone with the almost 100 percent increases seen in electricity, natural gas fuel, and food prices
Alewis, people belonging to a religion who is under attack in Sunni Islam Turkey, participated and protested the electrical bills they are receiving for their Cemevi, their places of worship. They stated that they are also victims of utility bills because their cemevis are considered shops and are being billed while camis, the sunni Islamic places of worship, are exempt.
