Digiturk employees’ applauding protests against employer’s misery hike and unionization continue for a third day
The resistance actions of Digiturk’s technology employees against the beIN Media Group reached its third day. Workers are rejecting the unserious offer the bosses have put on the table and have labeled the unacceptable raise as “misery wage.” The workers rallied for the third day against the low wage hike and for unionization in front of beIN Sports studios in Ayazaga district of Istanbul on the third day.
While the workers protested the misery hike with applause, Administrative Affairs Manager Adnan Yildiz was also recorded filming the workers. Clapping has become a form of protest in Turkey since booing is not allowed and is considered an insut and the police attacks in such situations. A Digiturk worker told Sendika.Org that the administration threatened and tried to frighten those who participated in the protests.
