In the face of increased attacks and pressures on women in Turkey under the Islamic rule of President Erdogan, women have voiced their concerns over how life has increasingly been hard for women. Women organizations called Feyza’s death, “not a suicide but a murder” when she no longer could take the mounting pressure.
Göksenil Feyza Çanoğlu was a 24-year-old Turkish worker who lived alone after her divorce in the village of Koyunbaba in Turkey. She was a hairstylist. She was preparing to celebrate her birthday when she was given the layoff notice.
Her neighbors found her body hanging in front of her porch after she was let go from her job.
