The organization Halkevleri, the Peoples’ Houses, held a press conference to demand respect for life back on October 25th, 2020, in Eskişehir, Turkey.
The governor and other authorities banned their press conference.
The organization had started a campaign across the country to demand justice against attacks, occupational murders, and oppressive measures rampant in the country.
The press conference in Eskişehir was a part of the larger campaign to protest the attacks.
The police attacked and detained the organization members for the gathering as they do to all opposition meetings.

In a new announcement, the members reminded why they were detained and now face the court. “In Turkey under pandemic, where we get sick, die, lose our jobs and bread, see violence, face injustice, it is our duty to scream our demand to live like a human being. This is the essence of Halkevleri’s struggle plan.”
