However, the way the government expressed this feeling of being “victimized” by showing in gruesome details the hanging of Menderes, the ex-Prime Minister, to school children was unacceptable to the parents watching in shock what passes as education for the AKP party.
When schools finally closed due to coronavirus pandemic the parents were worried about the interruption of education in Turkey. Then they gave a sigh of relief when the government announced the education would continue through a TV channel and the internet.
What the parents never considered was that the AKP government is an Islamic regime with close ties to the Islamic terrorists in Syria and elsewhere.
Entire families, when watching their children follow the classes on TV the next day were shocked when the government first started to settle some previous political scores cloaked as “education.”
In 1960 a pro-US, pro-Islamic and a corrupt authoritarian Adnan Menderes government was toppled by a popular coup. After long and embarrassing trials where the prime minister Menderes’ affairs with married women, secretly funding far right nationalists without government or Assembly approval and other corruptions were revealed he was sentenced to the gallows. Menderes had tried to prevent popular demonstrations demanding freedom by setting the police and the army against the masses. It was during Menderes’ reign that Turkey entered NATO after sending Turkish soldiers to fight on behalf of the US in the Korean war.
Menderes was hanged after being found guilty together with his two ministers. Maybe this was an unnecessarily harsh judgement by today’s corruptions and fascistic ways of the current ruling party. However, the toppling of an ultra-right-wing, religious, pro-US and pro-NATO government by a popular uprising was never forgotten by the religious bigots.
Following Menderes’ ideology of unfettered capitalism, pro-US policies, and kowtowing to corrupt religious leaders, the current AKP is among those who would love to avenge the hanging of the corrupt ex-PM.
However, the way the government expressed this feeling of being “victimized” by showing in gruesome details the hanging of Menderes, the ex-Prime Minister, to school children was unacceptable to the parents watching in shock what passes as education for the AKP party.
Just when the parents thought the fiasco of this kind of revenge education was enough, then came another religious themed class for the 4th graders where a hero who fought the crusaders to capture Jerusalem, Selahaddin Eyyubi, was being covered, scenes of beheadings by this hero were shown. Again, the educators made sure to show as much detail as they could to incite hatred in children with acts of terrorism.
After the uproar from the parents the Education Minister had to take a step back and assured the parents that the team who prepared the online classes had not been personally supervised and he did not approve of the violent scenes.
