The Attorney General has started an investigation against the recently elected Kurdish representative Ahmet Türk from DTP (Democratic Society Party). The investigation comes at the heels of Representative Türk’s accusation that the Turkish army had used chemical weapons when they killed 11 Kurdish guerillas on the mountains of Şırnak,Uludere. The accusation was made in a written statement by the DTP for World Peace Day.
The attorney general is accusing Mr. Türk of violating the famous article 301/2 which makes it illegal to put down the Turkish government, the Turkish state, the justice institutions, the military or the security forces.
If sentenced, Türk may face from 6 months to 2 years in prison.

The elected representative Türk, the head of the DTP group in the Turkish parliament reacted to the investigation as well as not being invited to the celebrations for the national holiday on August 30th against protocols. He said the state prosecutors were on a mission to try to indict the DTP for anything they said or did.
Answering press’ questionsat the parliament, Türk said they were used to this discriminatory procedures in Turkey. Deputy spokesmen for the DTP group, Selahattin Demirtaş stressed that as a party they preferred dialog as a means of conflict resolution instead of sensational publications on serious issues.
