After the union members of THY (Turkish Airlines) voted to go on strike when the corporation refused to negotiate or sign a contract, the THY workers and the union were preparing for the strike. At this point, the Turkish Government stepped in to prevent a strike during the high tourism season.
Decision came after a cabinet meeting where three ministers were appointed to form a commission to listen to both sides and try to resolve the conflict.
The ministers will hold meetings on August 15 where both the THY and the union will voice their arguments.
Hava-İş, the aviation workers union has accepted the offer to talk to the government ministers.
