Patients receiving treatment at the Dialysis Unit of the Hakkari State Hospital couldn’t get treatment when the only doctor assigned to the unit on a temporary basis, left the city.
Nurses are treating 14 patients in need of dialysis. When six patients died from kidney problems within two months two years ago for lack of proper care, a doctor was temorarily assigned to the hospital but he left when his term of duty finished.
The Healthcare Directorate of the Province said a new temporary doctor was expected to be assigned soon. The dialysis patients who have been without a doctor for a week now, want a permanent doctor. They say, “We don’t want to die for lack of medical care”.
