-Sept 30, 2006-
The Association of 78’ers in Ankara released a statement protesting the case brought against Ethem Dinçer for asking “Open the Files of the May 1 Massacre”. Ethem Dinçer is the President of the Mersin 78’ers Association.
The full text of the statement is as follows:
“We propest the suit brought against the President of the Mersin 78’ers for releasing on April 28 a press statement titled, “Open the Files on the May the 1st Massacre”.
The Ankara Association had read the same statement on the same day and asked for those responsible to be put on trial.
If struggling for a free and democratic country, defending the freedom of speech and expression, exposing the authorities that darken our future and asking the secret organizations and those guilty of murder be held accountable is a crime, then We, the 78’ers in Ankara, committed the same crime. We shall continue doing so.
Put us on trial too, like our dear brother Ethem Dinçer, the President of the Mersin 78’ers association.
The Association of 78’ers, Ankara
