DISK (Confederation of Progressive Unions) issued a press release on Saturday to protest the new Anti-terror Law and the harassment directed at the union members under this new law.
The vice-president of DİSK, Adnan SERDAROĞLU, speaking at the press-release explained that the police had raided the Headquarters of the Limter-İş Union, conducted a search until late hours, confiscated the office computers, video cassettes and CD’s and put the president and the general secretary of the Union in custody. They were later taken to court and arrested.
Limter-İş is a legitimate and legal organization. It has nothing to hide and is open to any lawful investigation. The raid is only an expression and proof of the harsh methods of harassment the government has chosen to use against the workers and can not be tolerated.
The confederation also protested the arrest of the president and secretary of the union and demanded their immediate release.
