In the face of Turkish Government’s deepening the cooperation with Israel and trying to approve to send forces to Lebanon, more than 7 thousand people gathered in one of the most busiest sections in Istanbul to show they were on the side of the people of Palestine and Lebanon.
Many democratic organizations participated in the march and rally including professional associations and chambers, labor trade unions, political parties, Peoples Houses organization and “No To Occupation in Iraq Coalition.”
The solidarity tent set up by Peoples Houses as a part of their recent campaign, “Long Live Palestine, Palestine Long Live,” enjoyed visits and contributions from the participants. An interesting addition to the march was the contributions from many student organizations in the form of street theatres depicting the Israeli occupation.
The crowd observed a minute of silence for those who have fallen for revolution before many representatives of unions, professional and democratic mass organizations’ addressed the crowd. One of the most popular groups in Turkey, Group Yorum, gave a concert before the rally ended.
