The second largest confederation of labor unions in Turkey, the confederation of Progressive Labor Unions, DISK, is organizing a large scale campaign to support Palestinians against the Israeli aggression towards Palestine and Lebanon.
The kick-off started with a call for the campaign named, “All Peaceful People of the World: Stop Israel!”
The campaign will hold press release conferences to explain the Israeli atrocities and the developments in the region as well as distributing leaflets to the workers to get the word out in all the businesses the confederation has organized.
The members of the DISK Executive Council and DISK council of Presidents will stage a sit-in at the most crowded, central park, Taksim, in Istanbul from July 26 to July 28 with a 30 member participation.
The sit-in will be announced with a press release today and the members will meet in OLEYIS, the Hotel and Restaurant workers union to march to the city center.
The schedule of events:
On the evening of July 26, a torch and lantern march will take place at 8:00PM.
July 27: A march to the Israeli consulate at 11:00AM.
July 27: A lantern and torch march at 8:00PM.
July 28: A long march from Taksim to Dolmabahce at 8:00PM where bottles carrying messages, “US, get your hands off from Middle East” and, “All Peoples of the World, Stop Israel!” will be released to the sea.
