The members of the Peoples Houses blocked the major street in Antakya as 1:00PM with chains to protest the Zionist Israel’s aggression. The protest was staged to send a solidarity message to the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon.
The protest started with garbage cans being pushed to the street to stop the traffic. During this initial step, the protestors chanted, “Murderous Israel, Get Out of Palestine!”, “The People of the Middle East are not alone!”, “Hope! Heart! Revolt! Thousand Greetings to Palestine!”, “Yesterday Palestine, Today Lebanon… Tomorrow Where?”
The police intervening to stop the protest tried to capture and handcuff two protestors. But the determined resistance and the support of the people on the street prevented the arrests.
The Peoples Houses Hatay(Antakya) branch explained the action as the following:
We, as the Peoples Houses Organization of Hatay want people to know that we stand fully behind the action of our members and we are calling to the Turkish government: All agreements signed with Israel must be nullified immediately. Turkish Ambassador to Israel must be recalled back. Israel Embassy in Ankara must be closed and everybody there must be expelled from Turkey.
MURDERER ISRAEL, GET OUT OF PALESTINE!
RESISTING PEOPLES WILL BE VICTORIOUS!
“Birruh bidem minifdik ye Filistin”
Another protest against Zionist Israel took place in the central Yunus Emre Park at 1:00PM by the Hatay Democracy Platform organization. The crowd opened a banner reading, “Down with the US and Zionist occupation in the Middle East,” and marched from the Government building to the city center. The protestors closed the main street to traffic during their march. The rally ended with a press release at the city center.
The banners mostly were written in Arabic and read, “birruh bidem minifdik ye Filistin” and “birruh bidem minifdike ye Lübnan” which translates to “Palestine and Lebanon, we are on your side with our life and blood.” Other banners read, “sevra sevra hakkıl narsa” (to fight for liberation is a right!)
People on the street gave their support to the marchers along the way.
There will be another rally at 8:00PM on July 25th in Hatay.
