Süleyman Çelebi, the president of DISK gave a press release on Israel’s attacks against Palestine.
Israel must stop its violation of human rights and the undeclared war in Palestine. All violence which prevents the establishment of peace must be stopped by all sides!
Israel using the excuse of the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier has entered Palestine and has arrested 64 people including 8 ministers and many representatives and has surrounded the city of Gaza.
Israel which has been violating all human rights and laws indifferently was not contended with these actions either and has bombed the power plant providing electricity to Gaza and cutting off oil and gas to the town.
There are around 130 water wells that pump water using electricity and other wells use diesel fuel.
In this situation it is obvious that the people of Palestine have been condemned to hunger and thirst.
No one should ignore the terror Israel is committing in Palestine with the backing of the USA. Also, all efforts of peace to establish an independent Palestine should be supported, all terror and violence should end and the misery the people of the region experiencing should immediately come to an end.
Israel’s immediate withdrawal and release of the arrested Palestinians and Hamas’ release of the Israeli soldier would prevent a barbaric war that may develop in the future.
For all those who oppose the war both in the world and in Turkey, the task is to show their massive reaction to this undeclared war which has turned into a gangrene in the region.
DISK (Confederation of Progressive Labor Unions) sees that the problem can not be solved by anti-war protestors in Turkey alone and thus has sent letter to labor organizations ICFTU and ETUC to mobilize the labor organizations in the region to initiate an “Emergency Initiative” that would include Israel Labor Union Confederation (HISTADRUD) and Palestinian Labor Union Federation (PGFTU).
We are waiting for an end to this undeclared, illegal and wrong war and violations of human rights by Israel and are condemning the terror Israel wages in Palestine and all violence wherever it may come from.
