11 people belonging to the Stop the Occupation in Iraq organization chained themselves to the Israeli consulate and the ruling JDP party’s buildings to protest the Israeli aggression in the Middle East and the collaborative position the Turkish government of the Justice and Development party, the JDP.
Demonstrators wore aprons that read, “Imperialists and Zionists will be defeated, resisting people will win.”
Chanting, “Terrorist Israel get out of the Middle East”, “Murderer USA get out of the Middle East” and “Long live the solidarity of the peoples” the members chained themselves to the gates of the Israeli consulate in Istanbul.
Unable to set the activists loose from the gates, the police searched for a tool to cut them loose. After 30 minutes of delay, the cops finally found a steel cutter and cut loose the demonstrators who were arrested and taken to various police stations.
