– May 1, 2006- Immediately following the passage of the General Healthcare Insurance bill in the Parliament, the IMF has announced that it is coming to Turkey on May the 5th for Scrutiny observations related to “Stand-by” agreements.
The IMF delegation led by Lorenzo Giorgianni, the chief of the Turkish Department, will conduct business in İstanbul between 5-8 May and after completing their work there, they will move to Ankara. The delegation is expected to be in Turkey for fifteen days.
The most important issue under discussion will be the developments. in the Structural Adjustment Program which the AKP (ruling party) government endorsed under IMF demands in spite of strong popular opposition.
