Çimse-iş Union from Confederation of Turkish Labor Unions (Türk-İş) decided to go on strike at 44 plants when no agreement was reached in collective bargaining talks.
The administrative committee of the Çimse-iş Union issued a statement announcing the failure of the collective bargaining talks with the Employers Union of Cement Producers.
The statement said Çimse-iş union had made every effort possible to reach an agreement but no agreement could be reached due to the inflexible position of the employers union.
It also pointed out that the collective agreement had ended on January 1, 2006 and since no agreement could be reached, it was decided to strike and if no progress is made to reach an agreement the decision to strike would become effective.
