Workers at the Tuzla shipyards employed by the contractor firm Platin Gemi are staging an action to demand their back pays.
The workers gathered in front of the Tuzla Shipyards at 8:00AM and opened a banner with the name of the union and the confederation, “DİSK LİMTER-İŞ.” Speaking on behalf of the workers, the union president Cem Dinç reported on the working conditions at the shipyard. He said, “The workers, once again have started an action against the irregularities and unfair practices with the leadership of our union.” Dinç also said that the reason the bosses were so fearless because the workers were unorganized.
Wearing aprons that read, “We will win by resisting,” and and the union’s name, “Limter İş,” workers chanted, “Unity of the workers will win over capital.”
Workers from other shipyards, RMK and Anadolu Tersanesi, who had gone through similar actions only ten days ago to receive their back pays joined the workers of Tuzla shipyards to show solidarity.
