An announcement read by People’s House President Metin Kaya said, “The AKP government which came to power with the votes of the poor has done nothing to improve their living conditions in the last three years they have been in charge. Claiming that their sole responsibility is marketing the country, as demanded by IMF, they have been plundering the factories and selling them to the rich at below value.”
He continued to say, “The AKP Government is selling our right to education and healthcare and calling it reform. As states schools deteriorate, education is being privatized. In the name of “General Health Insurance”, free healthcare is being privatized, contrary to what the government claims.
Metin Kaya said as People’s House they would participate in the meeting organized by DISK (Confederation of Progressive Labor Unions) on February 11 to protest and to claim their hospitals, schools, factories and the right to live decent lives. He urged everyone to attend the meeting.
