The announcement made by the Union of Press Workers said, “We ask our members not to concede their rights and interests when they sign any agreement, whether it is a personal contract, a workplace arrangement or whatever document it is.”
The concern of the workers has been increasing rapidly since November 14 when the stocks of Telekom (State telephone Company) were illegally privatized. Some unions have begun to cooperate with Oger and misinforming the workers. The administration of Telecom causes further confusion by the statements it makes.
The only way to stop this confusion is by giving the workers correct information.
Being fully conscious that privatization was an ideological attack on the workers, the union’s aim in Telecom\ for many years, was to organize a collective struggle of all sectors, workers and the public and to defend the economic and democratic rights and job security of the workers. However, since the illegal privatization of the company, the conditions have changed and deteriorated and the uneasiness of the workers has increased.
The statement said thousands of workers being transferred to other worksites had already petitioned to keep their job security rights. The union administration urged all the other workers not to sign any document or agreement yielding their rights and keep being
well-informed.
