Reacting on Thursday to Turkey’s refusing permission to a Greek Cypriot- flagged container ship seeking to enter the port of Mersin, the European Union stated this week that Turkey should implement the additional Customs Union protocol.
“The issue came up at the Troika meeting of political directors in Ankara” this week, said European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn. “The EU political directors told Turkish officials that Ankara should implement the additional protocol and open its harbors and airports.
