Gökçen Grubu, a group of businesses, laid off the workers organizing for a union representation at Cey Plas. Previously, they had done the same at their BPO plant in Bursa.
30 out of 240 workers were laid off at Cey Plas. The workers said they will continue their struggle against the boss’s attempts to break the union drive. The organizing expert at Petrol-İş, the Union of Petroleum and Chemical workers, Vural Çiftçi said they were organizing legally and for a just cause, but the employers had chosen an illegal way to dismiss the workers. He said the workers morale was high and the side to win would be the determined workers.
