The Torbalı Eğitim-Sen (Education and Science Laborers Union)Representatives made a statement concerning the oppression of the educational workers at Torbalı Anadolu High School. Stating that oppression on the teachers started three years ago is still continuing, the statement said, “Every action that the school administration takes reflects the oppressive attitude of the state. This is again apparent in the recent forced transfers of the teachers.”
Six teachers teaching at Torbalı Anadolu High School were involuntarily transferred to distant schools in the province of Izmir to “secure peace”. Torbalı Eğitim-Sen Representatives announced that a press release meeting would be held in front of the National Education Directorate in Torbalı on January 18, 2006. High participation is expected.
The president of Eğitim-Sen, Alaaddin Dinçer, will also attend the meeting. There will be a sign-up campaign to inform the public of the unfair and unaccounted transfer orders and call for their withdrawal.
