The bodies of Çağdaş Can and Cemal Çakmak, two of the guerillas killed in the clashes between the Turkish army and the Kurdish guerillas have been brought to Gazi where thousands of supporters were ready for the funeral. The caskets were wrapped in red flags and thousands marched to bring the bodies to the Gazi Cemevi while, as a protest of these killings, the shop keepers closed their shops in the Gazi district.
The bodies of other guerillas have been sent to their home towns where similar funerals and burials are taking place.
