Human Rights Association IHD’s Co-Chairman Eren Keskin detained at Sabiha Gökçen Airport
Human Rights Association (HRA-IHD) Co-President Eren Keskin was detained at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Keskin announced her detention on his social media account.
Keskin was detained due to her social media posts about human rights abuses.
Eren Keskin recently has been vocal about thousands of leftists and Kurdish citizens who were made to “disappear” by the Turkish state. She supported the “mothers of the disappeared” group of mothers, wives, and families that are known as the “Saturday Mothers.” The group has met silently every Saturday on a crowded pedestrian street in Istanbul for years, but every time the police brutally attack the mothers and frequently drag elderly women by their hair, then arrest them. Under these attacks, the group decided to meet at a closed place for some time. Recently the group met at their usual meeting place and the members were again attacked by the Turkish police.
Keskin is being held at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
Eren Keskin was released after her testimony.
